James L. Clark, Sr.- May 21, 2009

COXSACKIE – James L. Clark, Sr., 71, entered eternal life Thursday, May 21, 2009 at home surrounded by his family.  Jim served in the Navy from January 1956 to October 1959.  During his service as a Boatswain mate and Rescue Swimmer, Jim received a commendation for heroic actions in saving the life of a fellow Navyman after a plane crashed near the USS New, the Destroyer on which he served.

     Jim attended Ravena – Coeymans – Selkirk school, worked in maintenance at LaFarge, was a member of the Coxsackie United Methodist Church, a Master Carpenter, an avid camper and enjoyed gardening and reading.

     Survivors include his wife Ruth Anne Millett Clark of Coxsackie;  sisters, Mabel Boehlke of New Baltimore and Grace Covey of El Cajon, CA;  children and grandchildren, James L. Clark, Jr. (Jonathan Marston) and daughter-in-law Beth A. Clark (Jim Van Wagner) of Coxsackie and their children, Courtney and Gregory, Jodi D. (Howard) Mayforth of Athens and their children, Elizabeth, David and Christopher and Jon T. Clark and his children, Faathyma, Jon Jr. and Jacob;  and his beloved dog, Cassie.  Jim was predeceased by his parents, Mary and James Clark and sister Millie Carpinello.

     Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, May 26th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 PM.  Contributions in memory of Jim may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the United Methodist Church of Coxsackie or Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene.
