SELKIRK Ė R.J. Knight
died August 18, 2010 at St. Peterís Hospice after a long and
courageous battle with cancer for over 20 years.
R.J. was born in
Jersey City, NJ on January 15, 1947 son of the late Kenneth and Rose
Pezzella Knight. He worked for over 20 years for NY Central, Penn
Central and Conrail railroads as an engineer and also owned his own
trucking business before becoming disabled.
Anyone that knew
R.J. knew of his great passion for drag racing, cars, hot rods and
bikes and who also had the mechanical knowledge and ability to
repair and build them.
He is survived
by his wife Marilyn E. Knight; his sister Penny (Donald) Knight
Reuter of Worcester, NY; sister-in-law Julie (Matthews) Knight;
nephews, Edward K. Knight Jr. (Michelle), Zachary and Jake Knight of
Scotia and Samuel R. Knight of Spiegletown who will greatly miss
him; and many cousins.
predeceased by his parents, his brother Edward K. Knight, Sr. and
his sister Yvonne (Gene) Carmichael.
wife wants to thank from her heart all the doctors and nurses at St.
Peterís Hospital for all their care, compassion and consideration in
his time of need many times over the 20 years and especially wants
to thank Dr. Steven Hillinger (Oncology) and everyone at his office
(other doctors, nurses, lab techs and etc). Also Dr. Louis
Papandrea (cardiologist), Dr. Robert Busch (endocrinologist), Dr.
Vincent Carsillo (renal) and Dr. Vittorio Forenza (gastrologist).
Also the Bethlehem EMTís and ambulance at the time of his need.
request there will be no memorial service or calling hours. If
desired donations in memory of R.J. can be given to the Albany
Cancer Society or any other medical society.
