COXSACKIE – Gerald (Gerry) E. Lasher, Sr. entered into eternal rest at home on September 9, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer that spanned 27 years.  Gerry was born on October 27, 1934 to the late Howard S. Lasher and Sarah Walsh.  Gerry was predeceased in August of 1999 by his loving wife of 30 years Anna B. Lasher.  Gerry was also predeceased by two sisters, Margaret and Sally and a brother, George.  Gerry attended Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school and is a veteran of the US Navy.  Gerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed golf, bowling and billiards.  He retired from Niagara Mohawk and was a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 year club.  He was also a lifetime member and Vice Commander of the Coxsackie American Legion Post 166.

     Survivors include his brother Howard Lasher of Selkirk;  sons, George Lasher of Tallassee, AL, Gerald (Buddy) Lasher Jr. of Pocomoke, MD;  daughter, Nancy Godbout of Fort Edward;  stepsons, Robert Anderson of Coxsackie, Mark Anderson of Earlton, John Anderson of Sarasota, FL;  stepdaughters, Karen Smith of Chatham, Linda Nacey of Coxsackie and Tina McGowan of St. Petersburg, FL;  19 grandchildren;  21 great-grandchildren;  and several nieces and nephews. 

     Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena from 2 to 5 PM Sunday, September 12th.  Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, September 13th at the First Reformed Church of Bethlehem, Selkirk with Rev. Harlan Ratmeyer officiating.  Interment will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.

     Gerry’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Adessa Rice for providing Gerry with the best possible care and comfort during those trying times when it was most needed.  Contributions in Gerry’s memory may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty St., Catskill, NY 12414.
