COEYMANS HOLLOW – Carl Lee Boomhower, born May 30, 1956 in Saranac Lake, NY, passed away on August 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Lee was the son of Carl R. and June Elizabeth (Cassavaugh) Boomhower. He grew up in Coeymans Hollow, NY and spent summers during his early years in Bloomingdale, NY with the Cassavaugh family. It was during the summers in the Adirondacks that Lee learned the skills that served him throughout his life. He went to school in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school district. As an adult he worked as a truck driver and mechanic, he was a member of the Teamsters Union, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and tractors. But most of all he loved his family.
Lee is survived by his son, Carl, daughter in law, Marisa and his daughter, Amanda. He is also survived by his grandchildren Thomas, Alyssa, Nicholas, Lilianna and Adalina. He is responsible for inspiring a strong love of Sponge Bob Square Pants in his grandchildren who fondly called him Gramptron! He taught his children and grandchildren the meaning of unconditional love for which they will forever be grateful.
He is also survived by his devoted companion, Josie Whalen. He loved Josie and the time they spent together at camp. He also loved her parents deeply and was incredibly grateful for the time they spent together.
Lee will always be a big brother to his younger brother, Tim. As brother’s they shared a bond known only between siblings. The adventures they shared are notorious and will be fondly remembered.
Lee was the son in law of Tom and Rose Marie Glover, brother in law to Tom-Tom and Donna. Lee was grateful to Debbie for the years they shared raising their children together. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins and his feisty cat, Mitsy.
Lee, who was also known as Big Carl will forever be remembered for his strength, courage in the face of challenge, dignity and compassion. He will also be remembered for his infamous words of wisdom, great stories and most of all, his one of a kind sense of humor.
All that knew him are invited to join his family in remembering the great times they shared with Lee. Calling hours will be held on August 10, 2012 from 4-7 at Babcock Funeral Home located at 19 Pulver Ave. in Ravena, NY. In lieu of flowers, please donate life.
