SELKIRK – Helen Picarazzi Brennan, born on August 19, 1932, passed away March 17, 2012, St. Patrick’s Day. Born in Albany, Helen was the daughter of Domenic and Maria Picarazzi and the loving wife of 57 years of John J. “Jack” Brennan.
Helen proudly worked as an executive secretary for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for thirty years. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Ravena.
Helen’s family always looked forward to something yummy simmering on the stove, as she was known to be a marvelous cook. And somehow there was always enough for everybody. Although a full-blooded Italian-American, Helen was famous for her corned-beef and cabbage dinner that she lovingly prepared for her very Irish husband every year, and had even planned for this year. Helen loved a good game of Scrabble and enjoyed her New York Times crossword puzzles that she often worked to completion, no small feat.
In addition to her husband, Jack, she will be sadly missed by her brother, Louis Pizarazzi, and her twin sister, Victoria (Dan) Donnelly both of Selkirk. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families along with many wonderful friends. Helen was predeceased by three brothers, Perry, George and Tony and her sister Mary with whom she was very close and now joins in the hereafter.
Funeral services will be held 9 AM Tuesday, March 20th at St. Patrick’s Church, Ravena where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick’s Mausoleum, Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Monday from 5 to 7 PM. Contributions in memory of Helen may be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission or the charity of your choice.
