COEYMANS HOLLOW – Richard H. Collins, 62, passed away suddenly at
home May 5, 2017 and entered into the arms of his Eternal Father.
Born in Catskill on January 12, 1955 to the late Harold W. Collins
and Shirley (Turner/Collins) Dowd, Rich was a life-long resident of
Coeymans Hollow. Rich always said he lived in the best place this
side of heaven.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Melanie Bowen
Collins, his sons and daughters of whom he was so proud, Ryan
Collins of Ravena, Matthew and Natalie (Rogers) Collins of Clifton
Park and Tyler Collins and Lacey Angle of Leeds. Rich was a very
special “Grandpa” to Edan, Leilani, Logan and Tessa Johnson. Rich
is also survived by his mother Shirley; brothers and sisters-in-law
Robert and Deborah Collins of Venice, FL and Raymond and Eileen of
Ravena. He was a devoted brother-in-law to Brian and Alicia Bowen,
Susan and Randy Gelatt, Tim Bowen, Jennifer and Rich Smith, Jeff and
Jennifer (Taylor) Bowen. Rich is also survived by his aunts, Pearl
Collins and Gladys Howe; uncles Ed Lovecky and William Collins; and
many nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; cousins; and
friends whom he loved.
Rich worked for 40 ˝ years at Hannay Reels, retiring in January of
2017. One of his real loves was for the land and all God provided,
of which he shared among many. He was a member of Trinity UMC in
Coeymans Hollow where he could be found doing just about anything
asked of him. He had a kind, quiet spirit and a loving soul.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 15th at 4:30 at
Trinity UMC, 1313 SR 143, Coeymans Hollow 12046 with a calling hour
prior to the service starting at 3:30. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Rich to Trinity UM Church or
Trinity UMC Food Pantry, 1313 SR 143, Coeymans Hollow, NY 12046
