EARLTON  –  Donald Engelhardt  passed away on October 12th at the age of 64 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.   Don was born on July 6th 1954, the son of Charles and Anne Engelhardt of Earlton, NY.

Don is probably most remembered for starting Ski Fanatics in Campton NH where he resided for 30 years with his 2 children Aaron and Amanda and his wife Debbie.  Don’s single biggest goal was to make sure that anyone who wanted to ski or snowboard had access to affordable, comfortable ski and snowboard equipment.  Don was an extreme “Ski Fanatic” who loved to hike the local mountains to make turns, or hike a mountain by moonlight to make 1st tracks at sunrise.  He made trips to Colorado, Utah, California, British Columbia, and Europe to ski.   He also started the family favorite of “Paddling the Pemi”, which offered unguided paddling trips down the Pemigewasset River in Campton NH.  Aside from being a ski shop owner, Don was a scholar, studying at Hudson Valley Community College, Plattsburgh State University, and ultimately graduating from the University of Maine in Bangor with his Master’s Degree in Wildlife Biology.

Don was born in NY and grew up in Earlton with his 5 brothers and sister, Charles, Robert, William, Tom, Eric, and Carol.   He is survived by his 2 children, Aaron Engelhardt of South Lake Tahoe  CA, and Amanda Engelhardt of Cambridge MA,  5 brothers and sister, and 20 neices and nephews.

A memorial service for Don will be held 1 P.M. on Saturday, October 20th in Abounding Love Fellowship at Faith Plaza, Route 9W, Ravena, NY 12143.  In Lieu of flowers please make donations to POW ( Protect our Winters) .   You can go to https://protectourwinters.org  to make a donation in the memory of Donald Engelhardt.
