COEYMANS – John W. Frangella, 89, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011. John was born and lived all his life in Coeymans, son of the late Joseph and Theresa Frangella. He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII a member of the 388th Bomb Group. John was co-owner and operator of the former Frangella Brothers Mushroom Co. and retired from the Job Corps Center in Glenmont.

John was a life member and past chief of the Coeymans Fire Co. and held many other offices. He was a founding member of the R-C Sportsman Club, a member of the Mother McAuley Council 3424 Knights of Columbus, the Ravena V F W, and the American Legion and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Ravena.

Survivors include his wife, Helky Ylinen Frangella; children, Einie (Bill) Stine, John (Judy) Frangella and Sandra (John) Dottino; grandchildren, John III, Brian, Christopher and Alaina; and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brothers, Nicholas, Carmen, James and Samuel Frangella, and sisters, Virginia Orsino, Nancy Pape, Mary Orsino, Idella Carrao, Julia Mayone and Irene Frangella.

Funeral services will be held 9AM Friday, August 19th at St. Patrick’s Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. Contributions in memory of John may be made to the Coeymans Fire Co., PO Box 55, Coeymans, NY 12045 or to St. Patrick’s Church, 21 Main St., Ravena, NY 12143.

Members of the Coeymans Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary are requested to meet at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena, 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 to attend a service for our departed member and past chief John W. Frangella. Ken Dottino - Chief
