DELMAR - Kerry (Butch) Jon Irwin, born Kerry Jon Irwin, (63), of Delmar died unexpectedly on November 21, 2011. He was born July 3, 1948 in Rutland, Vermont and lived in Cavendish, VT before moving to Coeymans, NY.
Kerry was a graduate of RCS High School Class of 1966. He is survived by his father Kenneth Irwin, of Selkirk; his former wife Janice Irwin and their daughter Cori Irwin; former wife Joyce Irwin and their two children Jesse Irwin and Darlene Irwin along with his step-sons Michael, Christopher, Patrick and Donald Richter; his siblings Suzette Irwin (Wayne Boice) of Alcove and Randy Irwin (Raena Muzio) of Ravena. He is also survived by three nieces and one nephew.
Kerry was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Henry and Bernice Miinch; and his mother, Gloria Irwin.
After thirty years of service he retired from Conrail. He was a conductor and brakeman on freight train runs leaving from Selkirk heading to either Boston, Springfield, MA or Weehawken, NJ. He loved the railroad and told stories of many trips and details about trains and their history. He was also a lifelong UTU member.
Kerry excelled at pool, bowling, and golf with one of his favorite courses being Equinox in VT. He also enjoyed music and concert-going.
The memorial service will be on Sunday November 27, 2011 with calling hours from 3-6pm and a service immediately following at Babcock Funeral Home in Ravena, NY. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be at the Cavendish Village Cemetery in Cavendish, VT at a later date.
