Maine and Selkirk, New York – Richard (“Dick”) Kaser, Sr. died
peacefully on December 22nd, 2015 in his home in Pittsfield. He was
79 years old.
Dick was born in Albany,
the second and youngest son of Paul A. Kaser, Sr. and Amy K. Kaser
(née Reamer). He graduated from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central
School in 1953, and from Cobleskill-SUNY in 1956, with an Associates
He married Jean Ann
Kaser (née Barba) in March of 1957. Together they raised a daughter
and a son: Deborah Johnson of Pittsfield, Maine and Richard (“Rick”)
Kaser of Old Ravena Road, Selkirk. He had six grandchildren and
fourteen great grandchildren.
Dick was an Operating
Engineer and Diesel Mechanic for L.B. Smith for 3 years, and then he
became their Sales Office Manager for the next 13 years. From there
he moved on to the Mar-Van Crane Company and was their Operations
Manager and Rigging Superintendant for 7 years. In his later years
he worked for himself as a contractor, and then for Security Supply
Plumbing and Heating as an Inside Sales person on the counter.
Dick was a past member
of Ancient Temple Lodge #14 for 37 years, and was a past secretary
of Ancient City Lodge #452. He was also a past member and the first
President of Selkirk Fire Company #1.
Dick was an animal lover
all of his life, having had a horse as a boy, and many beloved dogs
across the years. He enjoyed camping, shooting, boating, fishing,
the Adirondacks, the Maine Coast, and spending time with his
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by
Jean, his beloved wife of 52 years.

be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday the 27th at Babcock Funeral Home in
