 RAVENA – Ronald James Lamoree passed away peacefully on November 15, 2012.

Ron was born August 15, 1948 in Albany and spent his childhood in Ravena and New Baltimore.

He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He flew as an aerial gunner in the Corps’ Medium Helicopter squadrons 261, 262, and 364.  While with 364, Ron was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroic actions on May 7, 1969.   He flew extensively during the war and earned 720 Air Medals during his two tours.  Ron was most proud of his Marine Combat Aircrew Badge.

Ron retired with the FDIC and then focused on his love of bass fishing, Alabama football, and American history.

He is survived by his former wife, Betsy, daughter Colleen (Stephen) Watson, and granddaughters Caroline and Ava Watson.

Donations may be made in his honor to the  Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208, Attn. Volunteer Services, where he received the most excellent of care in his final days.
