RAVENA –Frank A. Nunziato died May 7th at The Pines Rehabilitation Center in Catskill, NY.

He was born in an apartment over the Halfway House Tavern on March 1st, 1923 to Carmen & Theresa Nunziato. Frank was the only surviving son and was predeceased by sisters, Josephine, Raphael, Mary and Anna. He is survived by Loretta (Karl) Herchenroder. He was married for 58 years to Mabel Hotaling who predeceased him as well as his daughter Kathy. Survivors include daughters Teresa (Moose) Misuraca and Joanne Nunziato, as well as grandsons Bill (Jena) and Dominic (Amy) Misuraca.

Frank also leaves great grandsons Hunter, Luke, Cole, Dominic Jr., and great granddaughters Isabella, Ava, and Emma Rose Misuraca, who will miss their papa very much.

Our father owned and operated the Halfway House Tavern for over 80 years together with our mother Mabel. It was one of the most successful taverns of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s and he was known for his dry sense of humor which he maintained until the end. He was always ready willing and able to engage in political debates which he excelled in during his high school years and on the Village Board.

He loved Ravena, his hometown, sitting on the Village Board and Deputy Mayor for many years. He took great pride in the Village and was overjoyed when his grandson Bill followed in his footsteps. He looked forward to coming home but that was not meant to be. He died peacefully in his sleep.

There are many people to thank who were there throughout it all. Amy and Dominic who took wonderful care of him. Angelo Venturo who took him to Schenectady every two weeks to replenish his Italian bread supply and who he enjoyed lunches at Perecca’s with.  He also enjoyed visits with Debbie Oatman and Bones Leonardo who visited faithfully bringing him delicious Italian dinners, Tom (Gonzo) Gonzalez, Kenny Wheat, Bill Burns Sr., Howard Downes and the late Clayton Peck and the staff at The Pines and Jacob, Katie, and Shawn from All Metro who he shared many fun and special times with.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 am on Thursday May 11th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.  Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service starting at  9:30.  Contributions in memory of Frank may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
