Early November 24, 2011

     On a beautiful Thanksgiving day

Joy O’Brien took a final breath

     And she peacefully passed away

 A longtime Albany resident

Receiving care at St Peter’s fifth floor

Her 86 year spirit was willing

But her body could give no more

 Born February 19, 1925

Into the Burke family of George and Lulu Pearl

A large family of thirteen children

Joy was the youngest child, their little baby girl

After many moves with her family

In Stamford NY they came to rest

And then when she raised her family

     In Windham, Hensonville and Maplecrest

Married twice Joy had six children

     “Bud”, Peter and Eileen

Little William who went before her

      Then Michael and Kathleen

 She traveled this great country

With just a desire to explore

Like an anxious wide-eyed child

Turned loose in a free toy store

Joy always loved to walk and hike

     Country roads and mountain-sides

But no thrill could ever quite compare

     With her motorcycle rides

 But her most memorable attribute

     Even in time of trials

To try and find the silliness in life

And make those around her smile

To those who truly knew her heart

     We say, no we exclaim

When God whispered into her parents ears

     Joy was a perfect name

Memorial Service will be at Delmar Full Gospel Church

At a date and time to be determined.
