DELMAR – Dorothy H. Pfeffer, 91, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Sunday, May 19, 2013.  Dot enlisted in the army during WWII.  She served in New Guinea and the Phillipines as a teletype operator.  She then worked as a civilian employee at Fort Totten, LI until her retirement.  She resided in Queens, NY until 2009 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Assisted Living until her death.

Dot was an amazing lady who touched so many of us.  Her cheerful ways and appreciation for the small things in life made her so easy to be around.  She was loved by so many.  She writes in her autobiography, left behind for us to read, “It has been said that I was vaccinated with a phonograph needle and my mother was scared by a blasting radio while I was being born”.  Dot loved people and loved talking and listening to other people’s stories.  Farewell to our PVT Dorothy H. Pfeffer.  You hold a special place in All our hearts.  Heaven got the best gift today.  Love you always.

Survivors include her brother, George (Sara) Pfeffer and family of CA;  sister-in-law, Jean (Gerard) Pfeffer of Coxsackie;  niece and best pal, Linda (Michael) McGraw of Ravena;  many other nieces and nephews;  and her very close friends, the Moll family.  Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Carl, John and Gerard Pfeffer and special friend Malcolm Taylor.

Thank you to everyone at the Good Samaritan Assisted Living for your loving care and friendship to Aunt Dot in her 4 year stay.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, May 24th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 PM.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM.
