RAVENA – E. Isabel
Roberts, 96, surrounded by her family, went home to be with her Lord
and Savior on Saturday, May 14, 2016. She was born in Watervliet,
NY to the late George and Nellie Turner and was raised in Watervliet,
Troy and Selkirk with her three siblings. Isabel was married 43
years to the love of her life, Harold W. Roberts Sr. who passed away
in 1983. Together they raised four children. She worked side by
side with Harold to run the family business, Bush’s on Main Street
in Ravena and continued to work with her sons after his death. She
enjoyed seeing all the people and truly missed them after the Main
St. store closed.
Isabel lived a full
life. She belonged to several organizations, past matron of the
O.E.S., worked in the Ladies Aide and served in both the Bethlehem
Church and Ravena Congregational Christian Church. She enjoyed her
card clubs and continued to play a sharp game during her later
years! (Just ask her Gals) She was a Yankee fan and loved watching
them on TV. Isabel became a devoted bird watcher, those little
creatures brought her great joy, especially the “hummers”.
Most of all Isabel
loved her family. She remained close to her sisters and they were a
great comfort to each other. She loved getting her children
together. The more she could gather together the happier she was.
Celebrations with children, “great-grands”, all dancing brought a
special smile to her face. They loved their “Grandma Great”, and
great she was. Isabel is home, rejoice, now she can dance.
Isabel is survived
by her sisters, Ann Everingham and Alice Powers; her son Harold and
wife Jane Roberts, son George and wife Donna Roberts, daughter Carol
and husband Larry Parks, son Bruce Roberts and Claire Roberts; 14
grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews. Isabel was predeceased by her brother George I. Turner,
