 RAVENA Anna K. (Spock) Scalzo, 94, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family, March 24, 2018. She was born in Massena, N.Y. and was predeceased by her parents, Stephan and Rosa (Niedwicz) Spock. Mrs. Scalzo was a N.Y.S. licensed registered nurse, graduating from St. Peter's School of Nursing in 1945 and attended Russell Sage College where she received her school nurse teacher certification. Mrs. Scalzo was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Ravena; a member of the St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association, Albany Council of Catholic Nurses, Mother McAuley Council Columbiettes, Unitas VFW Post 9594 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She spent the majority of her nursing profession working at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany and retired from the Albany County Department of Health in 1984.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank W. Scalzo; they lived and raised their family in Ravena for 71 years. They enjoyed most happiness with their family and took great pleasure in train-tripping throughout the country. Anna was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who kept family traditions and customs alive through the generations. She was predeceased by her siblings Rose Bradley, Mary Payment, Andrew Spock and Michael Spock.

She is survived by her devoted children, daughter Francine and sons, Michael (Karen) and Frank (Darri); and beloved grandchildren, Alessandra, Ayndrea, Sarah, Rachel, Dylan, Katherine, and Natalie; and dearly loved great-granddaughter Piper. She is also survived by her loving sister, Adelaide Spock; devoted sister-in law, Mary Ann Clouse McCarville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thank you to Reverend Father Scott VanDerveer, Pastor of St. Patrick's Church and members of St. Patrick's ministry who faithfully visited, especially Jackie Lynch who was a good friend and constant support to Anna and her family. Further thanks to Dr. Theresa Sirico and her staff, Community Hospice, Eddy VNA Palliative Care and AIM nurses. A special thank you to her devoted caregivers Fatima, Erica, Dawn, Denise, Sheila, Jada, Jannie, Jessalyn, Veronica, and Rebecca.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Ravena, Tuesday, March 27. Entombment will follow in St. Patrick's Mausoleum, Coeymans.
