SELKIRK – Wayne G. “Soapy” Travis, 75, passed away peacefully on
Sunday, September 20, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
Wayne loved sports and was a great athlete in his younger years. He
has held several records in football, basketball and baseball at the
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School. He was also an avid fan of the
New York Yankees. For 46 years he worked in the family business,
Casey’s Electric in Albany and in 2010 he retired from the R-C-S
school district. Wayne was a member of the Ravena Fish and Game
Club, the Greater Ravena Area Lions Club and the former Coeymans
Reformed Church. Wayne enjoyed camping but most of all he loved
spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jane Slingerland
Travis; children, Tami (Mark) Tracey and Timothy (Lisa) Travis;
grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Stott, Erin (Greg) Matthews, Ryan and
Alysa Travis; great-grandchildren, Jesse and Harper Jane Stott and
Ethan Matthews; brother, Keith “Buzzy” (Martha) Travis; Aunt,
Maggie Travis; his beloved dog Bear; and several nieces, nephews
and many friends.
Wayne was predeceased by his father George Travis and mother Kathryn
Travis Bailey, his brother, Bruce Travis, sister-in-law Marcie
Travis and Uncle, Edward Travis.
A memorial service
for Wayne will be held 11 AM on Saturday, October 3rd at the First
Reformed Church of Bethlehem. There will be no calling hours. In
lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider making a
donation in memory of Wayne to the
