RAVENA – Russell C. “Bucky” Trombley, 89, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Veterans Hospital in Albany. Bucky, as everyone knew him, was born and lived all his life in the Ravena Coeymans area. He was an Army Veteran serving during WWII and for his service he was awarded three Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. He was a lifelong member of the DAV and an honorary member of the Ravena Fire Department. Bucky was an avid carpenter, had worked for the former NY Central Railroad and retired in 1988 after many years of service with the R-C-S School District.
Survivors include his wife, Elvera Makely Trombley; sons, Vaughn (Theresa), Dennis (Pam), Brian (Barbara), Jeffrey and Joel (Patricia) Trombley; daughter, Michele (Gary) Melius; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother Frank Trombley.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, October 15th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial with military honors will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers contribution in memory of Bucky may be made to the Stratton VA Medical Center, Attn. Volunteer Services, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208
